Katie has just finished her work placement with Brite, as part of her studies in the Diploma of Community Services. Katie has worked in the disability sector as a support worker, in a residential unit for 4 years, and previously held a Certificate III in Education Support. This was however, her first foray into disability employment.
Katie wanted to complete her Diploma, so that she could broaden her horizons and engage and provide a better life for those who are less fortunate. From here, her journey will continue at the Advanced Diploma level, which will enable her to enhance her career further whilst continuing to advocate and provide additional support for people with disability. Something Katie is obviously very passionate about.
“I have enjoyed working at Brite as I was able to interact with people of varying abilities. The employees at Brite enjoy their work; they are very friendly and made me feel very welcome.
This made me feel so proud to be able to support and be part of their working lives. Looking from the outside in, it showed me how much care was given to the employees at Brite. No discrimination and everyone given an equal opportunity to be the best they can be.
I enjoyed my time here immensely and one day, who knows, I may return in a different role”. - Katie
We were privileged to have Katie join us. Albeit brief, she made a great contribution to the team and left a lasting impression. On behalf of everyone at Brite, we wish to thank Katie for her contribution and we wish her all the very best in her future endeavours.
