Message from the CEO - December 2018
As 2018 draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the year – it’s been a big one! We are now well on our way to transitioning to the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). I would like to thank all our families for the time, support, and patience as we collaboratively work through this time of generational change. I also acknowledge the hard work of our Quality and Support team in supporting our colleagues and families throughout the process. It is fantastic to see the improved opportunities available in our community due to the NDIS. For those yet to transition to the NDIS, please speak with the Quality and Support team, should you need any support. Please know that the Brite team are available to help.
After 25 years in Northcote, our Institute colleagues have moved to Broadmeadows. A massive thank you to Gordana and her team, supported by our Finance and Business Service colleagues, in making this happen. Our training continues to set a benchmark for quality and delivering outcomes for people with disability and those seeking new employment opportunities.
2018 also brought our most successful Plants Open Day. Congratulations to our Plants team for all the hard work in making this happen. To the many families, friends, and colleagues who volunteered on the day, thank you for your time and passion in making the day possible and so special.
The Pak team continue to grow the business with new customers coming on board. This is being driven by the hard work of the whole team to meet our customer commitment of delivering in full and on-time. Thank you and congratulations.
Brite was recognised in 2018 through the Hume Business Awards, winning the Diversity and Human Resource awards, as well as the Northern Business Achievement Awards 2018, winning the Student Placement Employer of the Year Award & Placement Student of the Year Award (Jessica O’Donnell). Additionally, our Chairperson, Helena Gillies was recognised with a state award for her lifetime achievements in our community. Congratulations to Helena on this deserved recognition of your hard work, passion, and dedication to our community.
Finally, I would like to thank all my colleagues, the management team, and our board for delivering another big year for Brite. Collectively, we are transforming lives in our community. Please have a peaceful and safe break. I look forward to seeing you all again in the new year.
Merry Christmas
Nick
