Message from the CEO - February 2019
I hope you had a peaceful and enjoyable time off with family and friends over the break. Before getting into what’s in store for the new year, I would like to mention our amazing end of year function; our performing arts group led us through a boisterous rendition of some festive favourites, with a sprinkle of pop classics! We are looking forward to many more celebrations in 2019!
The Service Delivery team are continuing to support our colleagues and families transition to the NDIS. I’m delighted to say that most families I speak with are having a very positive NDIS experience. A big thank you to Steph, Marilyn, and Linda in providing ongoing NDIS advice and support. There are still some colleagues yet to transition to the NDIS. If you are still waiting for your planning meeting, please let the team know, and they will be sure to support you throughout the process. We are also starting to see some of our colleagues receive their annual NDIS plan review meeting. Please speak with the team if you have any questions.
Our NDIS programming is currently being refreshed, and will restart in March. There are many new and exciting additions, so please stay tuned! Our catering programme will be back – this was our most popular programme last year, and we will be opening up new places to ensure no one is disappointed.
Our Customised Employment pilot project will expand this year, and we will be re-doubling our efforts to support our colleagues who wish to taste employment beyond Brite. These are exciting times for our colleagues, their families, and the team at Brite. To those involved in the Customised Employment project, please know we are with you 100% of the way. We look forward to celebrating your achievements as you reach for your employment goals – you’ve got this!
We received our new uniform in late January. It is wonderful to see everyone looking so smart in their new Brite polos. As things begin to cool down over the coming months, Brite jackets will also be purchased; this is all part of our commitment to modernising our business. I would also like to acknowledge and thank our Board of Directors for their willingness to make such a significant investment.
There are many new and exciting opportunities on the horizon in 2019, including new training courses, employment programmes, and a range of exciting new business development opportunities. There will be plenty happening to keep us all focussed on our shared success. The year will pose many new and exciting challenges. We will take all opportunities and challenges head on, together; this is the Brite way!
Finally, we will hold our first family forum of the year on the 21st March. This is a great opportunity for our community to come together to discuss important NDIS updates, improvements at Brite, and a chance to meet the team and ask any questions you may have.
Best,
Nick
