School LeaverS Employment Support (SLES) Pilot Program
Nick commenced Brite's School Leavers Employment Support (SLES) Program in February.
We've been working with Nick on goal setting and he's already taking big leaps towards achieving his employment goals.
This week, Nick completed a practical taster on the Brite Pak floor and he has shown real determination to master a task that initially was very challenging. Labeling to most is a seemingly easy task, but see it from Nicks eyes, he has some limitations using both hands however, he never let that stop him. He made sure that each item was labeled with accuracy, while keeping up with production.
The team at Brite are really proud of Nick and the progress that he has made already. Keep up the great work Nick.
SLES is an early intervention approach for Year 12 school leavers. It’s designed to support the transition from school to employment. Brite delivers SLES to help young people like Nick and others prepare, look for and gain employment. We work with our participants to provide meaningful, individualised capacity building activities so they can achieve their employment goals.
Brite's program is unique because it offers participants the opportunity to undertake workplace tasters in a variety of roles, from our Pak production floor through to our commercial nursery, Brite Plants. However, it doesn't stop there. We go through a goal setting, employability and discovery phase with all participants and at the end of the day if employment outside of Brite is the goal, then we will endeavour to make that a reality.
