As the new year rolls in, we are excited by the introduction of new equipment into our flagship factory in Revesby, following the recent acquisition of Dakota Graphics, a specialised digital printing business.
We now have a Durst Lambda Laser Imager on site producing photographic output. This puts Brite in a unique position in Australia - a true one stop printing shop - offering screen, digital and photographic output from the one site!
In addition to the new printer, the acquisition of Dakota Graphics has also enabled Brite to bring in highly skilled personnel with strong digital expertise. It is with great pleasure that we welcome Wayne Lannstrom from Dakota Graphics into the Brite Solutions (NSW) management team as the new Digital Production Manager.
For the past 60 years, Brite have led the way in large format printing. In more recent years, we have worked hard to develop our digital capabilities. Brite (NSW) General Manager David Ehrenstrom believes the acquisition of Dakota Graphics further strengthens the Company's ability to cater for the increasing demands for quality digital printing services. "We are committed to keeping up with our customers' changing needs and are excited about having Wayne on board to take us further into the area of digital printing," he said.
With polished concrete floors, the suspended ceiling in place, the branding in the foyer installed and the factory lights are on.
The entire Brite Sydney team has moved to Daisy, St Revesby, Brite's new flagship factory. With the demand for Brite's printing services increasing, the company simply needed more room, moving from 5,500sqm to 8,000 sqm.
Brite NSW General Manager, David Ehrenstrom says that the expansion was very much a strategic decision.
"We required a space that would provide a more productive working environment. We specifically designed the pre-press room, film and digital studios and the production workshops to create a more cohesive and a safer workflow."
Ehrenstrom adds that the plan to move was a good reason to take a closer look at their internal processes.
"Customer service has always been our focus, but we wanted to do more. We wanted to demonstrate to our customers that we were serious about consistently delivering strong service. So, we doubled our customer service team and implemented a new management information system to mange the progress of print jobs and communication between us and the customers."
The sales, production and administration offices have also been upgraded to complement the look and feel of the recent facility upgrade in Melbourne.
The Brite story began in 1947 in Roy Evan's garage. A screen printer and signwriter by trade Roy's business, Evans Sign Co., took off when petrol chain, TOTAL, commissioned him to paint the outdoor posters and banners for all the new service stations around Australia. Back then everything was hand painted using silk screens and later semi-automatic screen printing machines. Yet, even initially without staff or a factory, Roy knew then that this would be the beginning of something big; and it was, the relationship with TOTAL continued for some 20 years earning the company a reputation in the graphic arts industry as pioneers in outdoor signage and advertising in Australia.
As the company grew, the company name changed to Evans Display Co to reflect its expanding product range, and Roy's son Ralph joined the family business to run the Rockdale screen printing factory. An innovator like his father, Ralph developed some of Australia's leading production techniques, which six decades on continues to be the company's key strength as well as its ability to deliver quality jobs.
The business was acquired in 1998 with the mission to continue to build on the good name of the brand through acquisition. Brite Victoria was acquired in 2000 and both operations in Sydney and Melbourne changed names to Brite Solutions to reflect the consultative approach the company was taking. In 2006 a digital printing business in Victoria was added to the business enterprise enabling the company to offer both quality screen and digital printing solutions.
Being in business for so long is a fantastic achievement for any organisation and the people who make Brite what it is today are proud that their contribution has helped establish the outdoor advertising market in Australia.
This month Brite launched its new brand to the market. The new livery is fresh, contemporary and
completely memorable.
Brite NSW General Manager, David Ehrenstrom, says that the company wanted to be seen as innovative, inventive and producers of quality.
"We deal with some of the best advertising agencies in the business. They're creatives so they naturally gravitate to providers who share their values for excellent presentation." Being in the business of graphic arts, Brite knows that a picture tells a thousand words and a logo can do just that.
"We wanted to send the message that we were techno-savvy, proficient in digital print as well
as traditional screen printing, and that we were also colour management experts. It was important
for us to portray this effectively, and the best way was through the brand."
Ehrenstrom says that the new look was an inevitable transition. The focus of the company is about improvement and how the company looks to the market is a key factor.
The new look Brite can now be seen in our factory foyers, new marketing brochures, across sales collateral and the website.
Colour consistency across all advertising mediums is one of the advertising industry's biggest bugbears. The blue in a print ad could look purple on the bus shelter or overpass.
Brite has invested in a leading certified contract proofing system "Oris Colour Tuner" to ensure colours across the entire advertising campaign are consistent and checked early at the pre-press stage.
"Our system takes the hassle out of rounds and rounds of proof checks which can, if not done properly, cause serious delays to a campaign," says NSW General Manager David Ehrenstrom.
