What are Accredited Courses?
Accredited courses are recognised nationally. They can only be delivered by a registered training organisation (RTO), that have undergone a strict approval process. When you successfully complete the full accredited course you will be provided with a Certificate. If you successfully complete only part of the course you will be awarded a Statement of Attainment.
An accredited course:
- meets industry, enterprise or community needs
- provides appropriate competency outcomes and a satisfactory basis for assessment
- meets national quality assurance requirements
- is aligned to the appropriate level of the Australian Qualifications Framework where it leads to a qualification.

What does this course involve?
Certificate I in Work Education is designed specifically for people who have a permanent cognitive impairment / intellectual disability. It is aimed at developing the core practical skills and knowledge to prepare you to gain and maintain meaningful employment.
These skills include:
- social and communication skills
- career planning
- numeracy and literacy skills
- job searching, resume writing and interviewing skills
- on the job work experience.
What are the entry requirements for this course?
There are no pre-requisites for this course but the following will be taken into consideration:
- age-appropriate behaviors
- independent travel to the training venue
- motivation to undertake and complete the certificate
- the ability to take part in all certificate activities.
How is the training funded?
This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding (eligibility criteria apply) or through Fee-for-Service arrangements.
What further study options will I have?
Once you have finished this course you may wish to consider other Certificate I level courses or a Certificate II level course in a specific industry such as horticulture.
How long is this course?
Certificate I in Work Education takes up to 18 months to complete. It is delivered 2 days per week and includes a number of work experience placements across different industry sectors. Work placement is a major and integral part of this program

You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Credit Transfer (CT). These will be discussed with you before you enroll.

What does this course involve?
This qualification may be used as a pathway for workforce entry as community services workers who provide a first point of contact and assist individuals in meeting their immediate needs.
At this level, work takes place under direct, regular supervision within clearly defined guidelines.
Certificate II in Community Services contains 9 units of competency. Five units are core, four units are elective. To obtain this qualification you must successfully complete all 9 units.
What are the entry requirements for this course?
There are no prerequisites for this course but to undertake this course at Brite institute you will need to successfully complete a pre-training review.
If undertaking this course as a trainee you will need to be working a minimum of 13 hours per week.

What does this course involve?
This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.
Certificate III in Individual Support contains 13 units of competency. Seven units are core, 6 units are elective. To obtain this qualification at Brite Institute you must successfully complete all 13 units and 150 hours of relevant industry practice (or 120 hours if you are working in industry).
What are the entry requirements for this course?
This course has no pre-requisites, however to undertake this course at Brite institute you will need to successfully complete a pre‑training review and be prepared to undertake 150 hour practical placement (or 120 hours of placement if you are working in industry). A police record check will be required for students to be placed in an industry practical placement.
If you are undertaking this course as a trainee you will need to be working a minimum of 13 hours per week,

What does this course involve?
This qualification reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community based environments. Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.
Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

What does this course involve?

Workers promote a person-centred approach, work without direct supervision and may be required to supervise and/or coordinate a small team.

This qualification reflects the role of workers participating in the design, implementation and evaluation of leisure, health activities and programs for clients in one or more sector areas. Workers may be in residential facilities and/or in community agencies and day centres, completing specialised tasks and functions in relation to leisure and health. While workers are responsible for their own outputs, work is carried out under direct or indirect supervision within defined organisation guidelines.
Certificate IV in Leisure and Health contains 17 units of competency. Ten core units and seven elective units. To obtain this qualification at Brite Institute you must successfully complete all 17 units and a 150 hour industry placement (or 120 hours of placement if you are working in industry).

What fees will I pay for my course?
You will pay fees for tuition, amenities and resources.
Each student's fees are calculated separately and based on the nominal hours of the units chosen, and whether or not government subsidies apply. Please refer to the fees and charges section on Brite's website for further details.

What does this course involve?
Certificate II in Horticulture is a suitable course for nursery workers who provide support roles in relevant aspects of nursery and plant production.
It includes learning to work safely in a nursery setting, conducting nursery work, plant propagation, treating weeds, cultivating shrubs, trees and potted plants and working in a team.
This course contains 15 units of competency. Two units are core, thirteen are elective units.
To obtain Certificate II in Horticulture you must successfully complete all 15 units.
What are the entry requirements for this course?
This course has no pre-requisites, but to undertake this course at Brite Institute you will need to successfully complete a pre-training review, the program is designed as an introduction to the horticulture and may enable entry into an Australian Apprenticeship.
What employment opportunities will I have once I have my certificate?
Your Certificate II in Horticulture will provide you the skills to seek employment opportunities such as:
- Nursery support worker
- Horticulture worker
- Horticulture assistant

How is the training funded?
This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding (eligibility criteria apply) or through fee-for-service arrangements
What further study options will I have?
Once you have completed your certificate you may wish to consider the following training pathways, Certificate III in Agriculture or Certificate III in Horticulture.
How long is the course?
Certificate II in Horticulture takes approximately 16 weeks to complete. The course is delivered two days a week, on site at Brite Services in Broadmeadows. This site includes a fully operational commercial nursery where students will gain practical training and work experience.
How will I be assessed?
- Oral and written questioning
- Practical demonstrations
- Projects
- Third Party Reports where relevant from the workplace supervisor
Will my previous experience or study count?
Yes, Brite Institute mutually recognises qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other RTOs. This means you will be granted Credit Transfer (CT) for units from this certificate that has been successfully achieved with another RTO.
You will also have the opportunity to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This takes into account the knowledge and skills you have already gained through previous education, formal or informal training, paid or unpaid work.
