CHC43415 – Certificate IV in Leisure and Health

 

Learn how to design, implement and evaluate leisure and health activities for elderly people and people with a disability.

When you complete this course, you’ll be able to work as a diversional therapy assistant, disability officer, leisure officer, recreation activities officer or community leisure officer.

The course involves: 17 units of competency (10 core, 7 elective) + a 120-hour work placement

Prerequisites: There are no entry requirements for this course. Previous experience in the industry or entry level studies would be helpful.

Previous experience: You may be able to get credit for units that you’ve studied in other courses. You can also apply for recognition of prior learning, which takes into account the skills and knowledge you’ve gained in previous jobs or education.

Assessment: Your assessment might include questions/answers, case studies, workplace documents, practical demonstrations and observations, and reports from your supervisor. We’ll make sure that you’re given every possible chance to succeed.

Pathways: When you successfully complete this course you can go on to other courses such as a Certificate IV in Ageing Support, Certificate IV in Disability or other tertiary qualifications. You’ll also improve your life skills so that you can better support family, friends and community members who need care.
Length: 12 months

Before you enrol you’ll need to:

  • successfully complete a pre-course interview with us
  • be willing to do a 120-hour work placement
  • be willing to obtain a Police Check before your placement.
